Just inherited an 87 yj w/3" lift on 32's all the usual offroad goodies, but has some problems which I am working out. Anyway the main problem I face now is the blinker/wiper switch or lever has been broken off. I can still use the blinkers but I can't use the wipers so I was wondering if anyone has an idea that would help me fix this. I was thinking of epoxying the switch back on and running the wiper motor wires to a toggle switch ? Any help and suggestions would be great .

Thanks:beerchug:

Is it a dealer only item, or can you get one at your local parts store? If all else fails try a wreaking yard.

Dude...it is a 15 dollar part from the dealer. A friend of mine broke his a while back. It is the only thing from the dealer under 1 million dollars

most auto parts stores cary the HELP line of parts, you can get the exact replacement for like $5. I got a new tie rod boot for $2, that was pretty cool:brows:

I checked one of the local parts stores and they can not get the part. You guys are talking about the whole signal arm/lever/switch I can't think of what to call it.But anyway I will check the jeep dealer next to me on friday. Thanks

Yeah, our local bumper to bumper sotre has about three different styles. They are the whole assembly. I don't know if it is jus tthe bumper to bumper here, but I cannot get over how knowlegable the staff is, and how cheap the stuff is there. I used to go to champion, and they suck big time.

I plan on checking w/the jeep dealer today, hopefully they have what I need, and some sort of direction to install it. Never done anything like this before.:puzzled:

I think the lever just screws out??? but to get the actual switch assembly out you have to take the column apart.

So here is what it will ocst me $73.00 for the switch/lever.
I am not paying for that so My idea is to duplicate the rear wiper setup on my cherokee. They have a toggle switch to control the wiper, only 1 speed but it is better then nothing besides I can olnly drive the yj in the summer w/no rain due to no top. What do you think will it work or no.

it will work i rode like that for the past year up until a month ago when i was under the dash i figured out the harness come unhooked...just take the wire for the fastest speed and wire a ground and that wire to your toggle switch...i figure if u use the fastes u can always turn it on and off for mist, but if u use a slowe one u wont be able to make it go faster

I am not good w/electrical work. I assume the wiper motor has a few wires? I take the one for the fastest setting or which ever I want then put that to the toggle switch or put that wire to the ground 1st. If it would be easier to pm me then that is no problem I am not very good w/electric as I mentioned. Any and all direction you could give wuold be great. Thanks

post that **** up here man! my wiper switch broke off too, but like way down inside right at the tip of the threads. i've got to try and use an ezout i guess to get the base out. was thinking of just wiring up a switch too since it's gonna be raining here soon.
