Can anybody tell me if there is a way to replace just the ground wire that runs from the starter motor to the soloniod? About a week ago after testing it with jumper cables and getting nothing, I took the starter off my 95 4 cyl. I took it to AutoZone, they tested it and told me it was fine. After I brought it back, the only thing I could find wrong w/ it was a cut in this wire. It didn't look bad so I put it back on and everything was fine until yesterday. Twice it didn't start, so I jiggled this wire and it would fire. But then last night, I couldn't get it to start no matter what.

So instead of replacing the starter (~$100), I would like to just replace the ground if possible. :puzzled:

You maybe able to replace soloniod which would have a new wire.

If I'm not mistaken, it's grounded by being bolted to the block. You have a bad power connection it sounds like. Take off all your connections and sand the contacts down a little to insure good contact and you should be fine. If your wire is hacked, get another one, but if the copper in the wire is not really cut into, it should be fine.

It is the wire coming out of the starter motor, going directly to the solonoid. I'll try sanding them down and let you know how that goes.

Thanx,
