The tomken skid goes over the stock one, so the stock one gets covered up. Can't help with install instructions, never installed one.

I don't see why it wouldn't, but Im curious as to why you went with the tomken and not something better, like the kilby, that gets rid of your stock one, and is much better proven? One more thing.. the Tomken skid is only 1/8" steel and the kilby is 3/16" steel, with a lot better construction.... Yes, its more money, but worth it, in my opinion.. of course you got the tomken for a REALLY good deal, used.... Then ignore all previous comments :D

i wouldn't take the factory one off...the tomken doesnt have too many mounting points, that why you have to keep the stock one on
Tomken mounts with only two bolts in the back (that's not enough the keep the gas tank in place if you rest the Jeep on it
I agree with scott though, i would return it if you can and get a kilby

I'm not into the hardcore rock crawing w/ my jeep, and i live right down the street from summit - so i just picked up the tomken cause they carry it, i'm replacing the skid more because my factory one rusted out and looks like crap. Only thing that is rusted on my jeep, kinda neat actually. I want the kilby, but i don't wanna have to pay for shipping and whatnot.

nah it meets my needs - trust me - i don't plan to hit it more than 10 times while i own the vehicle - i'm not a rock crawler or anything like that, normal trail riding i think it will hold up fine.

you do realize that if you use the tomken without the stock plate...if you happen to once hit a rock hard enough you will cause your gas tank to cave in and god only knows how much worse it can be...
the kilby is not that much more expensive even hen shipped..i believe like 270....
is the extra 50-70 bucks worth the extreme damage that could come to your Jeep???, or even worse to you

You'll be fine....... If everyone is so worried about scraping the tank, why not do alittle fabbing and raise the tank a couple of inches? Because you don't need it. Because ifyou really did, you would do it. If you think it'll do the job for mild wheeling and DD'ing, then it probably will be just fine. Best of luck!
