So is this normal. i have a 93 YJ with 172,000 miles and no oil leakes other than a small drip off my trans rear seal. used to think it was just exhuast but got new headers (fixed the crack in old one), new cat and mufler. I smell something burning like fluid or something??? I know jeeps stink anyway but just don't want it to be something bad. Obviouly i checked fluids and just flushed / filled everything as part of my regular maintance. New plugs, wires, cap, and jeep is in excelent running shape. what else could it be? The clutch is old i think and the drive train has some miles on it but its taken care off. Engine bay is clean and so is all the drive train parts. IDK any ideas??? Thanks

Check your catalytic converter. Have you noticed ANY power loss at all?

I had a wrtangelr a few years ago and I spent all my time and energy buying cool stuff for it like tops and bumpers, never really paying attention to mechanical stuff, well one day as I drove home it caught on fire and burned up in my driveway in 13 minutes. TO A CRISP.

NOW with my current wrangler, Im fixing all mechanical stuff FIRST then I'll worry about lifts and wheels and stuff.

Check the cat.

see thats the thing i have been payin attention to the drive train. The cat was replaced when i got new headers/muffler. The rear seal on my 231 was leaking and the ATF was dripping on my rear drive shaft and the drive shaft was spining it onto the cat. I replaced the seal and it slowed the drip but my jeep def. leaves a mark. There is alittle bit of AFT on my cat but not much. You think thats what it is?

Id check it to be safe. better safe than sorry. Could be a plethora of things...it IS a jeep after all.
