There is a Canyon City Tire carrier on Ebay right not for YJ. I have a TJ and was wondering if this thing could be made to work with minor alteration.
The main concearn I have is the tailgate hinges. Are they the same for YJs and TJs or are they completely different. This tire carrier mounts to the hinges themselves and they need to be pretty close to the same for it to work.
Thanks,
Paul

TJ hinges have gusset's cast in go them, but you should be able to convert to the YJ ones easy enough

Forgive my lack of knowledge, but Gusset's are what exaclty? The tire carrier replaces the center pin of the hinge with a bolt.
Is there any one that could go take some measurements for me.
Measurement #1 - Bottom of Top hinge to top of bottom hinge
Measurement #2 - Width of hinge pin
These two measurements will be the most important in my decision of purchasing this tire carrier. I also read a write up on installing a similar Canyon City carrier on a TJ. The instructions provided where from 92 and included YJ application, this began the idea that the TJ and YJ tailgates might be the same.

Ahh, I see what you're needing. This won't work for you. My 95 has the TJ gusseted straps on it and a few years ago a friend bought me a trail rack for a Christmas present. The gusset's meant that I couldn't use the YJ one so I exchanged it for the TJ version. The spacing of the hinges was different, so that didn't work either and I had to get store credit for the return. Bought a ring and pinion for the 8.8" in my back yard with it before I gave that axle away
