They won't come off and I tried using vice grips but they didn't do ****. I need to loosen them so I can bleed the brakes. Is there any way in hell to get them off?:sousy:

PB Blaster on them! Soak them everyday morning and night for 3 days and then try it again

Have been the past 2 days when I wasn't working on them. Still aren't coming off. Starting to think PB blaster is overrated. It didn't do squat for the nuts on the hard steel lines either.

I like to use a 6 point socket but since you put the vise grips on them looks like you have ruined the bleeders. :naw:

I would have but over half of the bolt was rusted away. There was no hex head to speak of.:naw:

bleeders are soft so be careful. If you can get a 6 point on it, even with pounding one on, maybe try to grind the edges and use a box end. I always got them with a 6pt, or box end. Either one I would use blaster then tap then loose with a hammer...

There wasn't a hex head on it....they were so bad that there were only two flats on the valve. :sousy:
I'll have fun fighting them off tomorrow. New ones will go in easy (I hope!!!):pokin:

Be careful. I have broken them off when they are stuck, ruining the wheel cylinders (at least they are cheap) on drums. People always get these too tight, they really just need to be snug. I'd soak in Blaster every day for a week if you want to save that brake.
(actually, I am not a big fan of Blaster, there is a penetrating oil called Kroil that in my experience is the best there is.)

I'll second the Kroil by Kano Labs. Great stuff.

Youre screwed, be sure to use antiseize on the new bleeders on your new wheel cylinders.

Never changed a wheel cylinder before. What's involved to change them?

Newer vehicle.
- Remove Brake Drum
- Remove brake pads.
- Remove 2 bolts and brake line on back of wheel cylinder
- Remove wheel cylinder and put on new one
- Put brake pads back on
- Bleed brakes
Older Vehicle
- Remove Brake Drum typically requires a sledge hammer to break rust
loose
- Remove brake pads and other broken brake parts.
- Remove 2 bolts and ruin brake line trying to get it off
- Install as many new brake lines as it takes
- Remove wheel cylinder and put on new one
- Install brake pads and new brake components
- Bleed brakes

LMAO..........so true. After I posted about how to remove the cylinder I decided to try to take it apart with no directions. I figured it out, not bad for a first time brake drum tear down.
So correct about replacing parts....springs, bolts, :sousy:
Definatly going to primer/paint the steel on it. After I get done with all of this **** I'm for sure not going swimming for awhile.:naw:
