Anybody seen this kit in action I'm going to be doing a suspension and was intrigued by this kit.

I could be totally off-base but I was under the impression that long-arm kits only apply to coil spring suspensions such as the TJ. A leaf spring YJ does not even have arms much less long arms.

R U referring to the RX YJ quarter elliptical set up in this month's 4WD/SU magazine? If so, there is a write up in that magazine and tha's 'prolly all you will find running it since it just came out.

Long control arms are sometimes used on leafsprung rigs that have SOA set-ups to eliminate axle wrap (aka spring wrap). This approach allows the front end to be addressed as well as the rear. (When using traction bars, usually just the rear is addressed.)
In addition, this approach allows double shackles (ie. shackles at both ends of the leafsprings) to be used for the purpose of increasing flex.
It's not clear to me what is being referenced in this thread though I'm guessing it is some sort of coil conversion kit.

Long arms are normally for a TJ---coil springs. But some cases used on a leaf spring vehicle-This RE kit is called a Long arm kit. It's a very nice kit, and will probably be very expensive...

Yeah dude, I knew what you were talking about. I ordered some parts from them last month and they sent me a brochure with the pics of the YJ long arm with a couple pics and it looks awesome. I knew they were comming out with a LA kit but I thought it was going to be a coil conversion but 1/4 ELIP!?! That's just too cool! :clapping: I would drop the $$ to have that in a heartbeat if I still had the YJ. :teary:

i couldent get the link to work, but one can build a quarter elip setup for like half of what they are selling this for, and thats being generous. They have been doing quarter elipticals forever, look on the net, get some ideas and build your own, that would prolly out flex the RE kit anyway.

yeah and all that matters is flex.......
it is true that a knowledgable individual could build a comparable setup for much left they could not do it without a great deal of time and a little trial and error. The kit is more then just the sum of its parts, it also has a great deal of R&D involved. We shall see how it works, I'm not overly impressed with there TJ LA kit and if it doesnt come with some sweet shocks and new mounts I would be looking more at costom or the RK coilover kit.

never said thats all that matters, from the sound of the people who were looking at it, it seemed like thats all they were looking for. I agree that there needs to be a balance in your rigs ability. Search POR on the RK kit, from what ive read, the black diamond kit is WAY better, and yes they did start making it again.

Something to also think about. We rep RE, and I've been told that the kit is not yet available to the public

True. Also in the new issue of 4wheel drive and sport ute there is a write up of the intsall for this lift. I haven't received my issue in the mail yet but I took a peek at the Groc store.
