I bought some new leaf srping shackles from a guy I met through this forum. I went to put them on my NEW 1990 Wrangler, and they wouldnt quite fit. The rubber groment was a little to thick. Any ideas?? Is this common?? What should I do?
Thanks
Brian

New bushings are typically snug, do you still have the packaging or any info that confirms these are the correct shackles for your particular vehicle, or did you buy them "as is", with no other material? If they are the right ones, I would say it's normal for them to be somewhat tight. Don't over tighten the bolts connecting the shackcles to their hangers when you reassemble everything though.

All I bought were the four shackles as is. The only bushings I have are the original ones that are already on there. Should I just Use a rubber mallet and pound them on there, while risking the desrtuction of the bushings? It seems as though they are the right size even though they dont exactly want to fit. Also, do the longer ones go in the back or the front, im not sure.
thanks,
Brian

I just did a buddies 91
i had to shave the inner sleeve about a 1/8th of an inch and i was ok.. i took a screw driver and moved the inner sleeve out and grinded it down until it fit snug in the shackle.. only the fronts though..
now watch out for the axle movements. they will shift on you. so be careful. you might need a gorilla bar or monkey bar.. go for the gorilla..
watch out for the rears the bolts might be going into the tank so the tank needs to be dropped not removed but dropped..about an couple of inches or so...
