I do think we need a YJ forum!

I love all models of Jeeps except one, which I won't name here.
The main problem I am confronted with each and every time I am trying to get information or have a discussion, is often you are reading and article and you think it's a YJ "Wrangler" it turns out it's a TJ "Wrangler"
Many times I post with requests and the respondents are TJ owners. This information often is not good as the two vehicles share nothing in common except for mud.
I saw the board experimenting with a YJ concept. Good going guys and gals! Please set it up and keep it up!!!! Thank you for putting forth the effort !

I think we should have a forum for all of the jeep models, and one for each year for that model, then another forum for the body color, then another forum for a 4 or 6, then another forum for how many miles.

I want a seperate YJ forum too. We just keep bitching about it and last time it even got so far as to have a test run. But the powers that be just left it up for a VERY short time so it would not get the exposure it needs to get going. I think they just don't want to do it. If you look the wrangler forum has the most posts and the most traffic.

All of us YJ only people have to wade through the sea of TJ crap to find what we are looking for. And as for the search, when we do a search for something on a YJ in the wrangler forum, it has to search through 800K posts to find it all (I know you can limit it by date but I want all the info I can get when I am looking for answers). If it is successful (which it usually makes you wait a while and then reply that it is too busy) you find half of the results end up being TJ posts you can't use anyways.

But no we don't need seperate forums.

Because the "Wrangler Forum was being overwhelmed with posts about what color Rubi to order, the date to which the new Rubi was to arrive, and so on and so on. It was better to have it seperate until the "Newness" wore off. I say join them into the wrangler forum now.

CJ's have their own forum....

They had a vote a few years back with overwhelming agreement to split it off the regular forum. don't blame them...at the time, there were so many TJ Newbies entering the forum with the most assinine questions imagineable.

Fact of the matter is...if this place actually was a technical forum, I would agree to split them...well, its NOT!

Look through the archives and figure out what made this place so popular...BTW, I was here from the very beginning. It wasn't technical discussions, it was discussions about Jeeps in general. Stories about trips, technical questions, ideas, just plain fun stuff.

Well, as far as Hayes (or whatever) repair manauals are concerned, 87-02 have quite the similarities. There really isn't TOO much of a difference, but there are quite a few still....ya know? Ok, I'm tired and I sound like a moron, so I'm gonna shut up now. :)

well good for you! about time someone actually recognizes the potential available by having "your own" forum instead of feeling insulted by being seperated away... that isnt the point. I have a CJ and a TJ. Which is the the best forum? take a guess... why is it that so many "Rubicon" Owners are all being prissy about losing their own lil forum? same thing. in this situation size does matter. too big and it's just "that"... "too" something. same with "too" small. check out the flavor of certain forums. there is a happy medium. I would tend to beleive that if the forums were seperated by designator, they would be more comfortable and enjoyable for those participating. YJ owners deserve to maintain their own identity. as do TJ owners. Rubicon owners? after all the "what color should I order my Rubi in?" dies down, they should be folded back in with the pack.

Jeep did have certain things in mind with the changing of the model designation. wonder what that could've been?
