I wanted to use the search but its dead again. I know I have read this here before...a while back. Who has converted the right side axle seal to an inboard type? Is there anyone who make the stuff to do this or am I just going to have to grind and just make the seal fit? I know I read a more elaborate procedure than just a grind and RTV job. Want to do this the most efective way.
:yup:

hi,
Yes that is what I think that outer seal is for. I have occasionally taken off the block off plate to see if any oil has made it past the inner seal and it has been dry. So the use I see for that outer seal is to keep the elements from getting in that empty space and the rest of the axle tube.
good luck,
ty

what exactly do you mean an inboard one????

if you mean in the pumpkin then you can just call Randy's Ring and pinion and they will hook you up with the right thing..however you need the one piece passanger axle shaft to do this conversion..otherwise the vacuum shifting mecanism wont shift right

I have the one piece shafts. Thats no problem. And I have seals. I will modify the housing to accept the normal, late model side seal, remove the inner bushing/bearing and outer right side seal and install late model shafts and totally eliminate the pneumatic shift motor. I will run this until I do the Warn hub conversion later this winter.
I was just wondering if anyone had done anything different or if someone made something to do this a different way than what I am planning.

Thanks Ty.
One more question.
You show an outer seal that replaces the outer disconnect seal. Are they using that just to ceep crud out of the axle tube? If so, great idea. I wouldn't have thought of that.
