Hi, I have a 94 yj 4.0 and its hard to start, it just cranks and cranks and cranks and will eventually fire. I replaced the fuel pump but that didnt help. I also replaced the ignition coil and coil wire a few weeks ago. This has been going on about a month or so. If any one has suggestions for a fix I would love to hear them.
Thanx

Are you sure it is not because it is getting colder out? It is fuel injected you know?

did not do it like this the last few years, and it should not have to crank for up to 10 seconds to start.:headpop:

As simple as this may sound,
Have you checked your battery charge lately?
Low Amps/Volts = Slow Crank

Battery is good, cranks plenty fast like it should.:headpop:

i went to the midway jeep dealership and told them my car would crank for around 12 seconds until it started up. they said that it was normal and probaby because of the cold weather we were having in san diego... i was about to start lmao!

Couple quick & easy things to check:
Air filter,.....is it clean?
Spark plugs,.....are they clean, unfouled, & gapped correctly?
Distributor cap & rotor,.....are the contacts inside clean, moisture free, no signs of fouling, cracks, & is the fastener that holds it down snug against the block tight?
Spark plug wires,....when was the last time they were replaced? I understand you replaced the coil wire.
Do you ever use injector cleaners?
I had a plug wire basically weld itself to the top of a spark plug. This caused some harder starts & not-so-smooth idle & pick-up. You may want to check all ends of these wires too. Sometimes they loose contact or have other electrical problems.

A faulty Crank Position Sensor might also cause those symptoms.
