I want to fab a front bumper but am not sure about the cost of the materials. Do you have to buy specific lengths?

Go to your steel yard and see if they have a scrap or surplus pile. I pay 25 cents a pound for surplus. If I buy new it's sold in 10ft. lenths.

That's how I buy it also. Buying cut lengths is about five times more expensive than going through the remnant pile for a piece that will work.
