okay jeep has put just about the same I-6 engine in jeeps for a long time now right? i know minor changes have occured year to year and such. but my question is that i'm am wanting to put a cold air intake on my jeep and i have a hard time finding one for a YJ and i see them all the time for a TJ. so i was wondering that if i got one for the TJ would i be able to put it on my YJ? and how hard would it be to put on? anyone know anything about this?

Possibly this link will help. It doesn't reflect Wrangler availability yet, but mentions it (maybe they were talking about TJ's & not YJ's). Perhaps the website is out of date. Maybe you could contact them for more info.

I only asked due to the fact that i went to my local dealer off road accessories and they said that it would $315 just to get it. I didn't quite understand why. But there are a ton for TJ's on ebay and i thought if i could get the TJ version off of ebay, that it would work on my 94 YJ. and the price for a new off of ebay is like $100

I'm not familiar with the YJ engine. Is it setup similar to the TJ's? I know the older ones were carb'ed so I don't think the TJ setup would work with those. Is there currently an air tube that you could cut off the end and just stick a K&N on it?

Erik,

Here's basically what a stock I-6 engine compartment looks like:

does that look like the newer ones? cause it seems to me that if it is roughly the same that i can use a TJ made intake

Do you mean a snorkel? I have never seen a "cold air intake" on a wrangler, does not sound like a good idea to me. All cold air intakes I have seen have been on mustangs, camaros, imports and the intake is dropped below the vehicle which is not a good idea for a 4x4.

ok let me rephrase what i said! First of all if i was asking about a snorkle i would have asked that specifcally. and second i'll just call it an intake as not to confuse you for intake underneath the car. ok? have I cleared things up?

Just make one it is easy and a lot cheaper. Use the air tube off a factory TJ set up and slap a K&N on there
