I have been thinking a lot lately about finding somone to extend my Jeep to a 105 inch wheel base YJ. Does anyone here know of a shop that would be willing to do that?
I want it to look like this

I am thinking of doing the same thing. I was going to put the gas tank in the bed of the jeep in a special box. Then move the rear axle back as far as I can and still keep it under the jeep. Cut the crap out of the wheel well and then put some rocker corners and panels on the side to create a new fake wheel well.
I was going to use the same control arm mounts in the rear and then just lengthen my arms accordingly, maybe triangulate the uppers or move my track bar back too. I was going to move the spring seats inbound of the frame at the correct height, and use different shock mounts
Not sure if it will work or look good, but sure would like to try it.
I am not going to lengthen the frame or body, just move the rear axle back.
Anyone have a suggestions or ideas feel free to say something...

Doogie,
You might want to talk to some people who build hot rods and customs cars. That should give you an idea of what all is involved and the cost.
blupupher,
That picture is actually taken from Camp Jeep 2001 in VA, The Jeeps you see in the background are all the prototypes. The Jeep in the foreground that Doogie wants to duplicate is actually built by AEV Conversions in Montana.

I know that AEV built that Jeep, I talked to them and they said that they would not do a YJ. I don't know why:confused:
I dont want to move the axle around I want to chop the body, frame, and hard top.
I'll have to look for some hot rod shops in the area.

From my understanding when I talked to AEV, they will only work on new Jeeps. It is partly for the fact that your warranty will still be in effect. But the main reason that I got out of my conversation is that it is more of a liability issue. I wanted to stretch my 97TJ to the 104 WB. They told me that I would have to buy a new TJ and they would do it. I would think that a custom shop could hook you up or give you an idea of what the cost would be. Look to see if there are any car shows going on in your area. Talk to people there, see who they would recomember and who they would stay away from.

Why not just get a Scrambler?

 Well, that is actually a good question. I know a guy who is selling one. But right now don't have the time, money or garage. At this point I wouldn't stretch my 97TJ since it is my daily driver. It is more of a dream or thought about doing it. How would I do it? What would I use? Theoretically speaking of course if money wasn't an issue.

I wanted a CJ 8 for a while but when I was in the market for a project Jeep I found a few Scramblers and everyone who was selling wanted 17,000 or more for a 10 plus year old Jeep. Some were even in bad condition and they still wanted a lot of money. I asked why they were trying to sell their CJ 8s for so much. They said that they were collector items. I think thats total ****!! I might pay that much if it was restored and lifted with lots of goodies. So I took my money and bought a 91 YJ that needed a lot of Love and Attention.
