As far as I know, still a c-clip. Although it probably is a bit stronger, I can't remember the last time anyone went nuts over finding a 10 bolt for any axleswap. :)
Also, I can't remember how many times I've seen trucks with 10 bolts come in with busted/exploded carriers. Not sure the story behind each of them, but that's just what I've seen. Never run/built/owned one, so can't really make any positive judgements though.

So you have seen alot of 10 bolts with broken carriers, were they full sized trucks? I wonder if my light weight jeep would make a difference. The only reason why I woould put this in my jeep because its free, it has 410's and its the same width. I dont know Dan do you think it would be worth it to swap it. It is stronger than my 35, buy by how much?
thanks,

From what I understand, 10-bolts are almost as weak as the D35. Definately not as strong as an 8.8" or a D44. If it were me, I wouldn't waste my time. Just my opinion.

there are 3 different chevy 10 bolts. The ones from teh s-trucks and the 1982+ Camaro and Firebirds are the weakest. The ones from the 1981- Camaros and Firebirds are stronger as are the 10 bolts in the full size chevy trucks.
it will either have a 5x4.75" bolt pattern or a 6x5.5" bolt pattern, its probably the 5x4.75" if its from a car. Only the big trucks get the 6 lug. You'll have to do something about the mismatched pattern since stock wranglers are 5x4.5" like Mustangs, Explorers, and Rangers.

I have a '65 skylark with a 10 bolt in it, from what i understand it is stronger then a dana 44, My 10 bolt has held up pretty good with the 455 in front of it and many passes at the drag strip,(2.78 posi and still frying both tires out of the pad, while turning 13's in the quarter) I would like something stronger though. I would go for the 10 bolt, and yes it is a C-clip but you could just get the c-clip elliminators for it,

I had one in my 83 camaro. I broke a spider gear which broke everything else. Then I replaced the carrier with one from Alburn gear. Put in 3:73 gears in it and dropped in a 400HP 355CI Chevy. Drove the **** out of it and it took the abuse.
