View Full Version : 46RH ZJ trans.......same used in 2wd Dodge truck?
Ok so I didn't want to post this question in the ZJ forum for not being Jeep related. My cousin is considering buying my 5.2L off of me when I do the crate 5.9L swap. A ZJ trans and my 5.2L are going into a '87 Dodge (Mitsubishi) Ram 50 as a project truck. I was wondering if the 46RH is the same used in the 2wd 1/2 ton Dodge truck from say....'93 to '95. He needs the tailshaft since the Ram 50 is a 2wd.
Thanks
Taz

Yes it is the same... HOWEVER you will need to use 2WD Tailshaft and remember the output shaft may/may not be same legnth... this would apply if you were using even a 4WD Ram Transmission in a 2WD application after hoping to change only the tailshaft... Wayne
I thought these had an all Mitsu drivetrain, not Dodge!!

I thought he just wanted to do a swap... I may have mis-read the post... In any event its not a bolt in by any means for that truck!
Thanks for the replies guys. The Ram 50 will be getting a '93 ZJ 5.2L, and ZJ 46RH trans, with a Ford 9" rearend. And maybe ZJ interior too. I just hope we don't end up trying to find a 46RH from a 1/2ton Dodge just because of the 2wd factor. It should haul ass when it's done.

No the trans is not the same, the starter is on the right side on a ZJ trans, its on the left on everything else.
